AI companion chat in different languages: a practical guide
Try Spanish, French and other languages in AI companion chat. Learn the difference between interface language and replies, with prompts to get started.
To try an AI companion conversation in another language, name the language in your message, choose a familiar topic and ask for short replies. A website’s language selector and the language of a generated reply are separate things. Start with a small exchange so you can check both the style and how well the response follows your request.
Interface language and chat language are different
On MyFittys, the language menu translates supported interface labels. It offers English (USA), English (UK), Russian, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Turkish and Italian. Some content remains in English. Selecting a flag does not mean every article, policy or previous message has been translated.
For the conversation itself, explicitly ask for the language you want in your next message. Treat this as a request to the AI, not a guarantee of fluent or error-free replies. You do not need to choose a character from a particular country just to request a language. A Fitty’s country is part of her fictional background, rather than a language qualification.
A simple first message in Spanish
Give the character a topic and a manageable reply length. Here is an original prompt you can try with Victoria, the fictional lifestyle model:
“Let’s chat in simple Spanish about watching boxing. Keep each reply to two short sentences and ask one question at a time. If I get stuck, explain the unfamiliar word in English.”
This gives you a way to continue without turning the exchange into a long lesson. If you would prefer an ordinary conversation without corrections, say so. You can enjoy talking about a sport without knowing its specialist vocabulary.
French and German conversation ideas
A familiar everyday situation gives the chat direction. With Ella, try a French conversation about choosing a café after an imagined judo event:
“Reply in simple French. We’re choosing somewhere for coffee after a fictional judo event. Give me two options, then wait for my choice. Only translate a sentence if I ask.”
For a German exchange with Amelia, use a countryside setting:
“Let’s talk in beginner-friendly German about a countryside afternoon. Keep the sentences short. After my reply, suggest one clearer way to phrase it, then continue the conversation.”
These are suggested prompts, not recordings of tested replies. Results vary. If a response feels too difficult, ask for simpler vocabulary or switch back to English. The same structure can be adapted to another language or a different Fitty.
Choose how much help you want
Corrections can be useful, but constant interruptions can make an informal chat feel like homework. Choose one approach at the start: no corrections unless requested, one short correction after each turn, or a brief review when you finish. Ask the AI to explain a correction if it seems inconsistent.
For a mixed-language exchange, be precise: “Reply in Portuguese, but explain unfamiliar words in English.” For a regional preference, name it: “Use Brazilian Portuguese” or “Use American English spelling.” These instructions guide the reply; they do not certify the accuracy of the result. Check an unfamiliar phrase before relying on it outside the chat.
What to do if the reply changes language
Restate the request briefly in the current message: “Please continue in French, with short replies.” If the answer has misunderstood your level, provide an example of the kind of sentence you can comfortably read. You can also ask for a translation of one sentence instead of restarting the entire conversation.
Long conversations can lose earlier instructions. Our guide to AI companion memory explains why saved history and the context used for a reply are different. For repeated or off-topic answers, see chat troubleshooting.
Try a short exchange before choosing a plan
MyFittys offers five free messages daily across the site, with no sign-up needed to start. Messages requesting another language or a correction still use that allowance. A useful sample is one message setting your language and topic, one natural reply, then one request to adjust the difficulty.
MyFittys is fictional AI entertainment, not a structured language course, an exam assessor or a professional translation service. This guide concerns text conversation; it does not promise pronunciation assessment or voice lessons. If you enjoy the exchange, browse the Fittys or compare the current plans.
